Hurricane Ike - Advisory #4 - 10:30 a.m. September 8, 2008

Hurricane Ike is currently 450 miles southeast of Sanibel traveling west at 14 mph and a west to west-northwest motion is expected over the next day or two.

Hurricane Ike is currently 890 miles southeast of Sanibel traveling west-southwest near 16 mph.

The City of Sanibel will continue to closely monitor Hurricane Ike and will remain in our preparatory phase. The City of Sanibel also urges residents, business owner, and visitors to also closely monitor Hurricane Ike for any changes that could impact Sanibel.

Sanibel City Council will convene a Special Emergency Meeting to consider various matters relating to the threat of Hurricane Ike Saturday, September 6, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. in MacKenzie Hall 800 Dunlop Road Public is welcome.

Hurricane Ike is currently 1,335 miles east of Sanibel traveling toward the west near 15 mph.

REMINDER - Refuse, Recycling & Waste Collection Delayed One Day due to Labor Day Holiday

Due to the Labor Day Holiday, refuse, recycling or vegetative waste collection is delayed by one day this week. If your normal day is Thursday, then your pick-up will be Friday this week.

Community Alert - Suspicious Incident Follow-Up - September 2, 2008

The Police Department received information that led to the person who spoke to the children. Through conversations with the man, the Police Department has determined that there was no intent to commit a crime. The man has no criminal history and has never been in trouble with law enforcement.
